Heading North at Last

Sunday, April 17

We are on our way north at last. We hope to just chug along, covering miles every day until we get to St. Augustine where we’ll visit with Grandad and Keith and pick up our mail. Probably ten days, more or less.

We’ve had showers and a rainbow today. The winds on the “Bayside” are high but the waves should be fine today. The waves on the “Oceanside” (which is the Atlantic) are 7 – 10 feet, which would be very uncomfortable for us in our small boat. We plan to stop in Islamorada later today.

Yesterday we visited with friends from West Hartford, Chad and Nancy George. Brian and Chad worked together when we first moved to West Hartford. Nancy was the person who suggested I get involved in the West Hartford Garden Club. We had a very nice time at their Summerland Key house.

Lauren reports that the boat’s decal has arrived. That’s a relief.
