Friday night we stayed just a few miles inside Alabama, so we
crossed into Florida around 9:00 yesterday morning. We’re on the ICW now. Pearl
will stay in Florida for at least 7 months, traveling or in storage. Brian and
I have only about 2 weeks till we start to pack up and head north.
We saw dolphins yesterday. Two actually led the way at our
bow, just under the surface of the water, for about 5 minutes. We’ve also seen
lots of pelicans. We passed the Pensacola Naval Air Station around 10:00 and
got to see a stunt plane making loops in the sky. That was very cool. We hoped
to see the Blue Angels, too, but they either didn’t perform or we were too far
away by then.
I made soup in the crock pot and it cooked all day while we
traveled. Bob and Melinda came for supper. Today we’re planning to go out to
breakfast and see a movie, but we are going to get mighty wet getting there!
The boat is rockin’ and rollin’ this morning, but we’re safely
tied up at a dock. We’re here for two nights while the storm goes through, but
should be able to travel by Monday afternoon. By Wednesday or Thursday, the
weather looks very good for making the Gulf crossing from Carrabelle to
Clearwater.
I will miss
this boating life when we go back to reality.
