Southbound on I-95, NC to FL

Sunday morning we got off around 9:20, covering North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, entering Florida around 4:00. With the new “live in the moment” attitude that had come over us as we headed south, it suddenly dawned on us that we were just a half-hour from Grandad and Keith’s house in Ponte Vedra Beach! We called ahead and they were glad to see us. A great dinner and early bed.

Reunion of the Melina B and Pearl
Monday morning we got off by 7:00, and decided on the spur of the moment to find our friends from the Melinda B to say hello. They were near Palm Coast on the Atlantic so we joined them for breakfast on their boat. We were so envious that they were already under way. They are heading north at a faster pace than we are so they can spend the summer in Maine. After a very nice visit, we pushed on heading south on I-95, turning off at Fort Pierce toward Lake Okeechobee. We took a short break at the lake, just so we could say that we had seen it, and arrived at River Forest Marina near LaBelle around 2:00.

Melbourne, Florida, not Australia
More on that later ...
